Alex Wilson's Latin Quarter

If you want a break from Christmas TV, then try this radio programme on BBC RADIO 2 on Wednesday 27th December at 8.00-9.00pm.

Alex Wilson invites listeners to an hour of Latin music, from Cuba to Brazil and Puerto Rico to the New York barrio.

Alex is the premier Latin pianist in the UK and has travelled to over 40 countries, performing and working with musicians connected by a mutual love for Latin music. (You may remember when they played Hull Truck.) This programme sees Alex introduce classic sounds from the likes of Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, The Buena Vista Social Club and La Lupe, alongside new Latin stars such as Orishas and Bebel Gilberto.

Salsa and Tango Party

Thanks to everyone who came last week and made it such a great night. The feedback has been incredible with texts and emails telling me how much you enjoyed the Tango workshop and the dancing afterwards. Bill and Ruth did us proud with their excellent class and showing us how it's really done in their demo. Wow!! Thanks to Pete Bristo for coming along and taking some pictures. I look forward to seeing them! In the meantime, here are a selection of the ones you guys have sent in.

Well amigos, the Tango night is fast approaching! Can't wait for Thursday! For those of you lucky enough to get tickets, please be there ready to start at 8pm. You will receive a free drink on arrival and then Bill and Ruth will take you through an intensive 1 1/2 hour workshop.The Club will welcome our regular dancers from 9.30pm onwards with tapas at 10pm and a Tango demonstration at around 10.30pm.

For those of you who were at the Christmas Party at The Lamp last year you will be familiar with the Spanish Christmas Carol Spot! I will be handing out a word sheet so that TODOS can join in!! It's the last social until the New Year, so let's make it a good one! We start up again on the 18th January.
